Description

This fine aviation art print by Friedl Wuelfing shows Messerschmitts of JG 27 over North Africa. The Me-109 in the center of the painting is being flown by Olt. Rödel, who recently had been appointed as the group commander of II./JG 27. One of the two Messerschmitts of the 1st Group, shown in the bottom left of the picture, is the 'Yellow 14' of Olt. Hans-Joachim Marseille. With 158 victories, including 151 in North Africa, he was the most successful fighter pilot of the Africa campaign. In this art print the name of the pilot of each of the aircraft is imprinted in the bottom image area.
