Over more than thirty years Roy Cross had created a volume of work celebrating the peak of the development of the naval and merchant sailing vessel, for the late eighteenth to the late nineteenth centuries. This book is the first review of Roy's marine paintings to be published. Dozens of his best paintings are showcased in full colour and accompanied by detailed captions giving historical information on each of the vessels featured.
Rov Cross began work as a technical artist during World War Two. In the 1970s he entered the world of fine marine art. He became a full member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists immediately upon his first exhibition and was among the world's most talented and sought-after marine artists.
