Description
In a race of attrition, the Martini Racing Porsche 917 K driven by Gijs van Lennep and Dr. Helmut Marko scored a deserved victory from the similar JW-entered machine of Attwood and Muller. The lightweight ‘magnesium car’ took the lead in the l3th hour and after crossing the finish line for the final time it had covered a total distance of 3315 miles at an average speed of 138 mph, both Le Mans records.
