Description
The racing art print ‘In Preparation’ by Nicholas Watts shows the three Mercedes W196 which are being prepared for the French Grand Prix in 1954. At this race on the high-speed track in Reims the aerodynamic aluminium body with closed wheel "Type Monza" was presented. Juan Manuel Fangio and Karl Kling took first and second place and Hans Herrmann drove the fastest lap, but had to retire on lap 16 due to an engine failure. The same bodywork was later used only three times: in Silverstone, in Monza, where it received its nickname in 1954, and again in Monza in 1955.
