Description
The aviation art print 'JG 54 Green Hearts' depicts Major Hannes Trautloft in his Bf 109 F-4 leading a flight of JG 54 Green Hearts aircraft over Rijelbitzy Airfield in Russia in summer 1942. Of the several known Messerschmitt Bf 109's flown by Hannes Trautloft, this F-4 is the best photo documented machine. The 'Green Heart' symbolized the german 'Free State of Thuringia' and was painted on the machines in December 1941 by order of wing commander Trautloft.
