Mercedes 300 SLR Mille Miglia 1955
Stirling Moss in the Mercedes 300 SLR
Description
This motorsport art print by Hessel Bes depicts the Mercedes 300 SLR with start number 722, in which Stirling Moss won the Mille Miglia in 1955. With an average of 157.651 km/h his record driving time was 10:07:48 hours. He was assisted in this by the meticulous preparation of his co-driver, the British motorsport journalist Denis Jenkinson, who had mapped the entire course of the race and prompted Moss in the style of a rally co-driver. Across the finish line, Moss had an incredible 32 minutes lead over his team-mate Juan Manuel Fangio.
