Description
Uncertain Outcome’ is an original aviation art painting by Heinz Krebs showing a Supermarine Spitfire emergency landing in the African desert. Will he make it or is that gonna go wrong? Are the rock fragments in the foreground only isolated obstacles or is there a larger scree field or even a wall of rock behind them? Still sufficient speed? The observer does not know, he can only make assumptions. The painter leaves him uncertain about the course of events of the following moments, and that is one of the special appeals of this picture.

The scene is again in North Africa, which Heinz Krebs often visits. This is also testified by the faithful reproduction of the landscape including the oasis visible in the background, which was perhaps decisive for the English pilot in his decision to land his damaged plane here. The Spitfire was frequently used during the African campaign against the German Luftwaffe, and because of the extensive similarities in the quality of man and material on both the British and German sides, it often got around to bitter aerial battles, which often ended uncertainly.
