Artist's Proofs (A/P) are a limited number of prints, frequently between 5 and a maximum of 10 percent of the total print edition, which are meant for personal use of the artist. Usually they are marked by the artist with the abbreviation "A/P", sometimes with "ea" (French "epreuve d'artiste") in the lower left corner. Nowadays, many artists leave the exploitation of their artist proofs with their publishers who offer these for sale at a much higher price than the copies of the main edition.
